In 1891, George C. Blickensderfer (1850-1917) invented a small portable writing machine that featured the ability to change type styles at will. This unique design formed the basis of a typewriter manufacturing business that lasted almost thirty years. 

Models 1, 2, & 3 apparently were made in very limited numbers because none have been found to date. The Model No. 5, introduced in 1893 at the Columbian Exposition, was manufactured for many years and sold primarily to price conscious buyers. 

The Model 7, offered in 1897, became the deluxe version of the basic design. Both models evolved with time and were quite popular. This particular example was assembled in Britain and is known as the "London Blick". 

All Blickensderfer machines were offered in aluminium versions after 1906, but very few of these were produced. 

The No. 7 was superceded by the Model 8 in 1908.

In wonderful condition, at a great price this only needs re-inking and adjustment upon arrival so ball so it is not sticky. 

We have not altered this or refinished the case so that it would retain/increase its value.

RARE 1913-17 English/Swedish Corona Portable, Foldable Typewriter with Case

This rare typewriter has the full ENGLISH alphabet and numbers plus three SPECIAL CHARACTERS used in the SWEDISH ALPHABET. Each of the Swedish characters has upper and lower case.

One of my favorites, this Corona looks beautiful and types smoothly! Some small areas of paint worn off, but we have not repainted so it will not lose its value.

Black and Red ribbon. Will need replacement depending upon use but I'll leave that up to the client in case they want an all black ribbon instead. (Ribbon can be purchased at an office supply store)

Considering its age the case in great shape with a few rumples on back and some wear. All hardware is in good working order. No keys to case lock, but is left unlocked.

Corona Serial number 210799; stamped patent dates June 10, 1913 and July 10, 1917.
